Huacaya Alpacas

Yearling Female

Darby
AOA# 36023660  DOB: 6/24/2024  (2 yrs)
Huacaya | Yearling Female | Unproven | Medium Silver Grey
Sire: Romeo's Raise the Roof
Dam: Our Destiny's Dream

This girl's dam, Destiny is truly one we adore. We were super excited that she conceived by the amazing fleeced Raise the Roof before he left for Tennessee. Needless to say we were ecstatic when a silver grey girl debuted at dusk. Majority of births on the ranch in Ventura were always by noon. So just before sundown was unusual, hence name debut at dusk - We call her Darby for short. She is a mini-me of her mother in disposition and looks, though we suspect possibly a bigger, better version. Darby is growing up quick and is looking robust in size. She is also packing quite a bit of fleece on her. We obtained a histogram and her micron was under 18 with a 4.3 SD. That should yield some lovely yarn for years to come.

Yearling Male

let the lion Roar
AOA# 36283187  DOB: 6/11/2024  (2 yrs)
Huacaya | Yearling Male | Unproven | Dark Fawn
Sire: Majestic's Armani
Dam: Zendaya from Zurich

We are quite happy with this guy because he is from one our favorite fawn dams (no favorite's allowed) Zendaya of Zurich. Suffice to say his granddam Zurich is an all-time favorite. Her dark grey coloring and she has had the cutest and best fleeced animals for us. Rory is "our" only offspring sired by Majestic Armani. His first shear was quite impressive. We went ahead to see if his histogram matched up with what we saw. At 17.3 AFD and 4.2 SD we think he has some good potential. We went ahead and showed him as a yearling. Even though he did not place high, he held his own in the judges comments among some of the big breeders. . The judges commented a little more growing up time. From what we have seen, the Majestic's Armani from Jumanji line seem to bloom just a little bit later. He had commendable fleece score of 71/80 with a 19.5 of 20 in fineness & handle and well above average uniformity, 4 of 5 of density and 8.5 brightness. We are pleased with these attributes and decided to show him again following spring. He only got a 5th in halter and the judge said placing was due to his longer face, should I mention I almost cried when shearers sheared his face clean because he really did have that full-face coverage as you can see in our shearing photo of him. However, the 2nd show the judge kept going back and forth between the one she placed first among some of the industry greats so we were super excited about receiving a 2nd. His walking fleece score card shows 4 of 5 density 8.5 brightness and 18 of 20 fineness despite the wind mud etc. These are traits we have been aiming to improve in our huacayas so we are grateful we received this feedback.

Female

beautiful grey & sweet temperment
AOA# 35171546  DOB: 2/10/2015  (11 yrs)
Huacaya | Female | Proven | Medium Silver Grey
Sire: Alpaca Knolls Caleb
Dam: Dina's Deborah
Service Sire: Granite Bay's Blue Silver

We had a predominately suri herd with just a couple huacayas in the beginning. I fell in love with grey upon seeing Destiny's sire. We took a long shot breeding a beige dam with no grey lineage to this grey guy. Destiny's Dream made her triumphant debut and as we have heard the best dreams are the ones with your eyes wide open. From that day forward we decided to grow our grey huacaya herd. f we had a nickel for everyone who inquired about purchasing her. Destiny will always have a special place in our herd & hearts. She was always eye catching, so photogenic I had a hard time deciding what is the better picture of her to post and photography skills are lacking. She is still one of the cutest alpacas with an easy demeanor. Both of her parents had histograms in low 20s with good uniformity in their adult breeding years. Her histogram was 19.7 with a 5.5 SD with a nice comfort factor. As we suspected she made an excellent mother. Her firstborn cria was overdue but she had a textbook delivery of an absolutely gorgeous grey guy by Reserve Champion 4-Sight's Crawford. This cria had a bright, soft fleece with nice density and took a first and a second at a show... She then birthed an absolutely adorable female by Copper Ganache. Her most recent cria is a robust, grey girl by Romeo's Raise the Roof. cria was her mini me but I believe she is already bigger than her mother at under two years of age. We bred Destiny to Blue Silver in March 2026 - have not confirmed a pregnancy.

Dark silver grey beauty
AOA# 32439816  DOB: 10/6/2012  (13 yrs)
Huacaya | Female | Proven | Medium Silver Grey, Dark Silver Grey
Sire: El R Luciano's Orsino
Dam: EL R Skywalker's Catherine

Zurich is just one of those girls you think is special just looking at her. She is a gorgeous color and has a special story and place in her prior owner's heart partly due to the TLC that she needed early on. We feel fortunate to have added her to our foundation. For her first breeding we decided to take a gamble on color and bred her to our dark fawn guy BOA's Aslan. Something in their faces and stature just spoke to me as being a good pairing. I was pretty certain when seeing the two together regardless of outcome of color we should be happy with the results. Aslan has great coverage, loaded with fleece & tons of crimp with a nice handle. She had a confirmed pregnancy with just one breeding and effortlessly delivered a beautiful girl. Lets say that girl they produced isn't going anywhere! Her fleece just keeps coming in bright and beautiful -soo crimpy it springs! Zurich has been a good mother and holding her weight, etc. She had a fabulous fleeced male by Dancing Elk's Romeo that was highly commended by fleece judges. She then birthed a beautiful silver grey male by the fine fleeced 4-Sight's Crawford. His coverage is phenomenal and he is as cute as they come. Zurich was bred to Granite Bay's Blue Silver hoping for a 2024 cria but unfortunately she was carrying twins and didn't retain them long enough. We recently tried the pairing again August 2025 and will wait and see if she appears pregnant.

Uniquely marked - a bolero jacket
AOA# 36016785  DOB: 7/8/2019  (7 yrs)
Huacaya | Female | Proven | Dark Silver Grey, True Black
Sire: 4-Sight's Crawford
Dam: Dancing Elk's Isabella
Service Sire: Granite Bay's Blue Silver

This girl came out looked so dark grey you didn't initially notice her black front in a bolero jacket type pattern with her medium to silver grey body until she was dry. She looked so sleek & elegant. We couldn't quite settle on a name. That black Bolero jacket pattern helped us decide on the name "Bolero Giacca" Italian for bolero jacket. "Gia" for short, which the name means God is gracious. She was a spunky and fun little one that loved to run. As an adult she looks like she gives you "the eye" which is almost comical. Her dam, Dancing Elk's Isabella is one of our favorites, beautiful and full of personality and her sire, 4-Sight's Crawford, simply fine, silver grey fleece. Both of their pedigrees are steeped in some of the great greys. Gia was on our keeper list before she entered motherhood but has solidified her place in the herd. She gave birth to a spectacular female by the brawny, dense fleeced, TWT Hawkeye Dizzy Gillespi. Needless to say, we were almost ecstatic when she effortlessly birthed this beautiful robust girl. A beautiful rose grey, markings of white face and feet with the perfect touch of eye makeup. So gorgeous! We instantaneously named that girl Grazie - Thank you in Italian! Late last summer, she delivered a nice grey guy by Granite Bay's Blue Silver. He has potential with a fine uniform first histogram. She is two for two in producing grey. Still not positive her breeding took

grey goodness
AOA# 36023622  DOB: 8/7/2020  (6 yrs)
Huacaya | Female | Unproven | Medium Silver Grey, Medium Rose Grey
Sire: 4-Sight's Crawford
Dam: Dancing Elk's Juliet
Service Sire: Granite Bay's Blue Silver

Super sturdy and elegant grey girl. When you have a nice robust female with dense fleece it allows you many options come breeding time. We decided to try her dam for the color option of our preference "silver grey" by breeding to a nice fine and uniform-fleeced guy. 4-Sight's Crawford has amazing fleece and that is especially nice because of his deep grey genetics. Right out of the starting gate Juliet delivered this beautiful grey girl. We couldn't be happier with Jubilee. While Crawford was our go-to guy for a few seasons and has some nice offspring to his credit, I think this one may be the one that is hard to top! Until you breed intentionally for grey you don't necessarily realize what a gift grey is - many of our grey to grey pairings have been black or another color, many... Her shearing yielded a nearly 5 pound blanket soft with nice brightness! While we regret not registering her for shows we will be very happy to keep her as part of our foundation. We keep trying her with Granite Bay's Blue Silver. She has been bred multiple times so we are hoping she will actually give birth next summer

Grazie
AOA# 36233786  DOB: 7/8/2022  (4 yrs)
Huacaya | Female | Unproven | Dark Rose Grey
Sire: TWT Hawkeye's Dizzy Gillespie
Dam: Bolero Giacca by Crawford
Service Sire: Granite Bay's Blue Silver

There are best laid plans, best guesses and then sometimes best surprises. This girl's dam is very uniquely marked, somewhat tuxedo grey but almost half black in front. We joked at what color her baby would be as to which half was more dominant. We would not have ever guessed this color - it is even a different rose grey color than her sire - the reddish hue is very striking. When she was born a whole lotta of Grazie's came out. TWT Hawkeye's Dizzy Gillespie gets an absolute atta-boy for this one. I am totally smitten with her color and markings and it isn't a typical color I gravitate towards. Honestly the eye shadow with the lips, she is a walking makeup commercial. She has beautiful face coverage. Some more silver grey color is evident after shearing off a truly beautiful blanket. We decided to try her at fall shows and she took a respectable 3rd and 5th place from the different judges. Both judges commended her conformation. We had her fleece processed into sport-weight yarn instead of chunky and it turned out quite nice.

Male

Striking pattern
AOA# 36023448  DOB: 8/9/2021  (5 yrs)
Huacaya | Male | Proven | True Black
Sire: Dancing Elk's Romeo
Dam: 4 Season's Freedom

This guys dam had 4 boys in a row, but each one of them have been extraordinarily beautiful. Freedom's formal attire, dubbed "Dino" aka the Dean Martin of the pasture, has a nice bright crimp. His sire has beautiful conformation and really dense fleece - and an all-time favorite disposition. We entered him as a young guy in the California Classic and although he took a 5th place he had nicer score than some of our other hot shots. He received a 16.5 fineness of 20, 7.5 of 10 in uniformity of micron 7 brightness and somewhat surprisingly a 4.5 in color uniformity. This boy is such a looker we actually had several inquires regarding purchasing him at that show. His next show we had people stop and thank us for bringing him again they just loved seeing him so much. Because of his striking appearance we used him for some events. He was quite the gentleman for a wedding reception and later for a birthday party. His head and face coverage adds to his appearance and his fleece is nice. One year since he was a favorite with the youth that helped at shearing we let him call his hairstyle and he sported a mullet. It was said to be business in the front, party in the back. We bred him to a female last year and suspected his markings may be a dominant trait & a close replica of himself was just born. Absolutely one of the cutest crias you have laid eyes on. Herdsire (Male)

brawny grey guy
AOA# 35376217  DOB: 11/2/2020  (5 yrs)
Huacaya | Herdsire (Male) | Proven | Medium Silver Grey
Sire: A Paca Fun's SilverLegacy
Dam: Granite Bay Blue XX

When you fall in love with a certain breeding program, appreciating their achievement in brightness (in grey color) you can hardly resist the temptation to add to your herd. We saw a post regarding some of Granite Bay beauties being available. Before other life circumstances could delay, we acquired him, sight-unseen. Well, we did have fleece shots and knew the reputation of care and lineage so we weren't worried one bit about what would be on the end of the lead when we received him. We couldn't wait to meet him at the show. One of our favorite esteemed judges was the fleece judge and she took a sample around to point out the crimp in his guard hair for others surrounding to witness the softness of hand. Blue's score card was icing on the cake. He received a 2nd of 11 in his class going up against some real contenders including some of his own prior herd-mates. His sire is A Paca Fun's SilverLegacy who won numerous first places from A Paca Funs successful grey program and his dam is Granite Bay's Blue XX who received a 1st place at ABR fleece show 2020. She sired the gorgeous true black Champion Granite Bay Jet Blue XX. Blue grew up real quick - in fact we suspect that may have been why he didn't rank as well in the halter show the following spring. Now he has grown into such a nice stature, considerably large frame that is balanced and proportioned. His first show at Gold Country the judge awarded him a 2nd place with comments big size for his age and a dense fleece. His walking fleece score was 8 of 10 brightness 3.5 of 5 density, 8 of 10 uniformity of micron and 16 of 20 fineness. We are extremely pleased. Blue's histogram came in as 20.2 micron. Considering we are striving to add brightness and density to our predominately grey herd, we are excited to see how his first offspring progress. They were all sturdy and up and nursing in no time, just like you like them. The all seem to have great coverage, nice looking heads and commendable first histograms! Blue was recently shown at the Wild West Alpaca in walking fleece at over 5 years of age his score card was 64 of 80. a 16.5 fineness and handle absence of fibers >30 4 of 5 an 8 of 10 brightness and a 4 of 5 density. Still holding some of these great traits into his age essentially similar to his youth. He has sired two grey and one bay black offspring. One of his daughters was recently shown and the Judge commented that he showed his apprentice that she was an example of a wonderful gait and built like a brick house. He is available for breeding.

Too cute for words
AOA# 36016662  DOB: 6/28/2019  (7 yrs)
Huacaya | Open (Female) | Proven | Dark Fawn
Sire: Boa's Aslan 2013
Dam: TWT Orsinio's Zurich

This girl is still simply too cute for words! Born from a smaller mom & dad that have amazing fiber and coverage, we didn't expect to add much in size but this was a first birth for her mom. She is certainly a standout in the pasture and her fleece looks & feels fabulous and just keeps coming in. We don't mind if she takes her time growing. Though it would have been nice if we were able to attend shows with her. Zendaya's name means, to "give Thanks". For whatever reason the system had a glitch and we could not give her sire credit in the name. Oddest thing, we tried extra zz's in her name, and different variations. Finally it allowed the name from her dam, so Zendaya from Zurich there you are.. Yet, Aslan we know this mini-me is your daughter. Her parents are some of our favorites. We paired her with the light grey fine-fleeced "Crawford" and very happy with the outcome. She was a great first time mom to a beautiful rose grey boy that has a bright dense fleece with beautiful markings. We were so happy when he placed 2 in a large class amongst long time successful breeders. June 11 2024, she gave birth to a vivacious boy by Majestic Armani. We anticipated a fawn color with Armani's parents both of that color but are super excited with an astounding fleece he is producing. In April we bred her to Granite Bay's Blue Silver to roll the dice for grey another time. He has such a nice conformation and coverage we anticipate this could be a beautiful pairing.
