Suri Alpacas

This girl was the first-born of our beautiful rose grey Wine on the Lanai. Looks like she will stay dark brown instead of rose grey like her dam & sire. Her fleece is quite nice. We suspect some density coming thru from her grandsire on her dam's side WI the Admiral. We are excited to see what she will produce when she grows up. Her histogram came up with a nice fineness and uniformity 18.6AFD and a 4.1 SD - All was under 30 micron for a 98.9% comfort factor. Fleece length of 160mm (I think that was our longest suri fleece) Luster is visible at the skin, considering sire & dam are both grey, we are extremely pleased. She received 1st places in halter classes for both shows with nice comments on both her fleece and conformation from two different judges.

This girl was first-born to Santa Lucia who is a light fawn, WI The Admiral daughter, that was from a silver grey dam. We bred Lucia to a silver grey sire and although this cria looked brown at birth, silver grey showed down her top line. After shearing she is obviously more grey throughout. Her color will likely change with consecutive shearing, to reveal more silver grey. She is growing up well. She has a sweet disposition and we are hoping to breed her soon.

This girls dam, Zaila is a true black from a Rose grey dam, grandsire of GLR Armani, so we suspected she may produce grey. Very pleasantly surprised on her first born and the first grey produced by Worthy Journey. Zinnia is a beautiful girl with a nice disposition. She has a gorgeous true-to-type suri head with excellent facial fleece coverage. We are going to need to trim her face for her vision. She has been a good size with nice bone and appears her conformation is improved from greys of previous generations. She received first place ribbons at California Classic and Gold Country and we appreciated what the judges said about her in the show ring. Since she is well-grown, we plan to breed soon and see what she may produce for us.

This one was our last born of the 2024 season to our best producing female and one of our all-time favorite multi-champion producing males. Her sire really did produce a number of champions in almost all colors. While she is not quite the coloring we were hoping for we were excited to get a girl. Something about her expression is so endearing. Her histogram shows just under 17 micron, 3.71 SD - nice uniformity! With a 150mm fleece length for 6 months of growth. She seems to be growing up fast and we are hoping she will produce some beautiful offspring when she is an adult.

One breeding season we decided to gamble on breeding a couple of our white females to GLR Armani to see if we could get some appaloosa or multi type coloring. While this guy came out solid fawn, he came out catching my eye very early on. Nice luster and lock structure. We kept thinking he is not just incredibly cute (an adorable smile) he is developing a lovely fleece and nice body frame. Histogram came in as our most uniform & finest fleece to date. 15 AFD = fine and 3.4 SD especially when we think back on our earlier days we were happy to have suri with a SD of 5 or less! While his regrowth does not appear to be as fine it continues to be impressive. We were able to get him entered into the Gold Country and California Classic shows. He took a respectful 2nd place in halter classes and although a 4th in walking fleece, a pretty nice score card of 72.5/85. Because he scored even better than a few of our champions, we entered him again at Wild West and Golden West shows. Each halter he took a 2nd with comments that it was very close between first and 2nd. One judge commented his fleece was slightly denser and higher luster. We are on a dirt property and have had pretty bad wind and mud here so it was not a surprise that his walking fleece scores were significantly lower than prior. One judge commented the humidity at venue may likely have also affected handle. However, he did receive a Reserve championship for Wild West walking fleece so we are pleased. We should really try and get color typing to see if it is possible he carries any of the grey or spotted. If you are looking to add a male with coveted suri fleece attributes, this guy could be it.

While you try not to have favorites, this girl's momma, Victoria was so eye-catching - we just loved her color and luster!! We were so excited to have a grey girl from this nice pairing that it felt like winning. Hence her name, Victorious Win by SD Silverstone's Bluestreak Rocket. Now that her mother prematurely passed away she is even more special to us. We have seen what this girl's daddy has produced and the lock structure in the color(s) grey and even brown has been phenomenal. Seriously check out this girl's sire, SD Silverstone's Blue Streak Rocket. He is a Silverstone son which are great genetics on the east coast paired with some of our favorite genetics Captain Morgan, MFI Jalila on the dams side. He ranked well with the suri herd evaluator, beautiful, strong conformation and fine fleece exhibiting luster. He is not owned by us but by Alfaro Family Farms and resides at Windy Hill. Rocket's got the whole package in grey. If you are breeding for that elusive, yet quality grey, we think this is the guy to go to. Needless to say, this girl is part of our foundation. We did not get a chance to show her due to her age at time of Covid, but this girl is a star to us. Summer 2022 she gave us a gorgeous grey girl by GLR Armani and was a wonderful attentive mother. Her daughter received a couple first place wins in the show ring.

We were ecstatic to finally get a girl from our best producing dam that had given us 3 boys in a row. We thought that if this girl turns out anything like her full older brother, we are already beyond thankful. Super strong and sturdy at birth. Shiny silky fleece. We kept her in full fleece to show and covid happened. She showed at Nationals in Nebraska and received a 6th place in the Full Fleece Suri Light Female Yearling Never Shorn. We were not discouraged, with the competition there you can be happy to receive a placement. With her genetics we suspected she will be a fantastic producer. She proved this very true at the beginning. We had bred her to Sierra Bonita's Max because her mother had produced such a stunner with that pairing before. Her first cria was on our show string & obtained two 1st places and a Reserve Championship! Kingsley is a vocal one, a bit dominant with food, but an excellent mother & she maintains a healthy body weight.

One of our most anticipated births. This was one of those pairings that it wasn't going to make a difference on gender, you plan on it being a keeper. I fell for this girl's sire, long before his first Judge's choice award and before he was old enough to breed lol. Sir Oliver Twist of WAP has magnificent conformation & fleece attributes and a stellar show career... When breeding time came, we didn't have too many "open" females to send. We felt a breeding to Oliver could possibly bring more density and uniformity to her offspring. I truly couldn't help myself given Oliver's dam is dark silver grey. Despite Satin having birthed silver grey before, this beautiful golden girl arrived. We named her "Heaven Touching Earth" - Hettie is her nickname. We think she could really take our suri foundation females to a much higher level. Her fleece had beautiful lock, luster and the regrowth after shearing. We ended up sending this girl to a show in Nebraska. She received a 1st place in her class. Hettie was a perfect first time mother. She birthed a beautiful interesting copper-colored female with really nice luster from VNF Drakkar, an extremely lovely Rose grey, Armani son, who's dam is a Nico daughter. Her one and only (so far) Sidney Scotch Brown has had a nice show record with a couple championships and comments from the judge including her high luster and a nearly perfect, true to type suri head! We are praying we can get this girl pregnant again.

This robust female is in the top 10% EPDs. Her pedigree traces back to some of the noteworthy genetics, NGG Accoyo Apache, Inca, Torbio and a few others At Wayja's prior ranch she had some type of accident that she lost a big part of one of her ears - it thankfully doesn't seem to affect her, other than cosmetic. Wayja birthed a nice fawn female for Alpacas At Windy Hill. Wayja then bred to our 2x Champion Kiss of the King and had a nice solid cria that looked show-worthy when she sold to another ranch. 2024 she birthed a fawn guy by GLR Armani that has high luster & nice density. He is locked way down to his belly and into his thighs. This offspring's histogram was impressive under 15 micron and 3.4 sd! He was awareded a reserve championship in walking fleece. We think this girl is one of those gem of a producer. We bred her to our lovely Gracie's Slick to the max last August but have not confirmed a pregnancy. .

This girl's dam, Lacey was our first Reserve Champion and was such a wonderful producer. She blessed us with not only a fourth girl in a row, but a truly splendid looking one. Naming her Splendor of the King since she was sired by the 2X Champion Kiss of the King. She has a very sweet demeanor like her mom & also on the smaller side in height, but nicely proportioned and a better chest capacity likely from her sire. Her histogram did not come in quite as well as what I expected but we may have not sent in the best sample site. Either way a 21 micron at 2 and just over 5 in SD indicating uniformity is certainly a nice processible fleece she is carrying. She just bred March 2026.

This guy was born bright white. His sire, AWH Kalino is a multi-champion and sits in the top 1% in the EPD program for AFD, SDAFD, SF, and top 5%F>30 and other categories. His sire Kalino had an exceptional high score with superb comments from a fleece judge. Kingpin's dam produced a 1st place winning, reserve champion her last cria. We were impressed with this guy from the second "he" touched the ground - nice fleece. His histogram came back, at slightly under 2 years old (age on the report is incorrect) 22-24 micron 4.1 SD and staple length 155 (nice regrowth). He has grown up into a nice looking male with a pleasant demeanor.

This guy has a pedigree of the old well-knowns, including Bracito, Torbio, Macqyver... His name came by thinking of rock & roller Grace Slick. Slick has proven to be the perfect name time and time again. He was born sturdy, strong and packing the fleece! We had not seen or felt so many skin wrinkles on a newborn body and neck. They almost flapped over on the sides. Beautiful luster & fineness like no other we had seen. We mean fine! We were disappointed that he did not get a chance to show 2020 due to all shows being canceled with Covid. Since the local show was also canceled spring of 2021, we decided to send him all the way to Nebraska to the Nationals. His first show at the AOA Nationals he took a first in his class! The judge had all nice things to say about him. Those that got to take a close look made the comment he has an elite fleece type. We were planning to send him on to further shows but he ended up being shorn by accident on the ranch shearing day. Words can't describe the emotions felt when his prime show season were dashed in an instant. Because of his amiable demeanor we decided to show him as a mature adult. The Judge, Cheryl Gehly gave him a 1st place with a Reserve Champion against younger and top breeders in walking fleece. With a score of 10 of 10 in fineness - as a 2 year old when judges rarely give out 10s! Spring 2022 he went on to receive four 1st places ribbons. We still wonder if the near average density scores from certain judges were taking his fineness into consideration. Dianne Timmerman gave him a 4 of 5 in density and Cheryl Gehly gave him a 3.5 of 5. We feel they know Suris. We hope to obtain a skin biopsy one day. At the AWE he was awarded a 1st & reserve color championship in halter! Comments besides his nice frame, were his fleece fineness and that re-locking all the way down to the belly. Between showing at CABA, AWE, GWAS and RMA if you saw the level of his competition it was really out of this world. We did not plan to continue showing him but they needed numbers at Gold Country 2022. Although he wasn't in well maintained pastures, he took a 1st in walking fleece with his highest fleece score ever! (see photo of score card) We had sent his 2nd fleece off for processing, they mill commented they had successfully processed fine fleece before but not had any that was that "slick" His histogram just came back 20.6 AFD and 4.7 SD in his 3rd fleece. His EPDs list him in the top 15% in nearly every category. Slick sired a few beautiful crias that were born nice & robust and with added luster & wrinkles in their skin, indicating density. This girl was born just a bit early and a little small in size to a first time mom. She soon picked up the pace and she could be seen zooming around the pasture. Zaila was so cute and spunky with a seemingly zest for life pronking and showing off for visitors. She just love loved to run. Despite Zaila's dark color something in this girls eyes really stand out. Her dam is a robust freckled, rose grey from one of our top favorites, GLR Armani. Joy has a lot of fleece, I think over a 5 pound blanket last shear. Zaila's sire, Zaliki, had skin biopsy showing good density and above average fineness in secondaries noted in color of black. He received a couple championships, and won above 18 other fleeces at the Suri Network fleece show. Zaliki is a strikingly handsome, robust guy and he was also noted to have high luster 18 of 20 on fleece score. We see that trait being exhibited in her already and couldn't be happier especially considering he has silver grey in his pedigree from Silver-heat not to mention his gorgeous dam is WLK Peruvian Zara. We entered Zaila in the fall show 2022 and the judge awarded her a 1st place and remarked about her nice conformation and luster. She is also a sweet one to handle. 2023 we bred her to Worthy Journey, and she delivered a gorgeous silver grey girl. She eased very well into motherhood and that is growing up looking fabulous. We bred her to Gracie's Slick to the Max before he left for Reno, Nevada - will see if we can confirm a pregnancy.

We just love this girl! We named her after her dam - Worth the wait (aka Worthy) so her name is Worthy of my all (aka Mya). This girl's dam had a silver grey in the past with So Cal's Platinum Marquis and we decided to go for grey again with Sterling, a gorgeous silver grey son by SoCal Greystone's Marquis from a nice fawn dam by Max. While the pairing didn't produce grey, Sterling added such nice density and lock to this girl. She has remarkable face coverage - a truly stunning suri head. Her fleece regrowth is relocking extremely well. She is producing a different lock style than we have had and it is really stunning. Planning to breed this girl very soon.

This girl was born in the wee hours of a cool morning but was up and walking when we spotted her. Super excited to have her as the last one born to us for the season. A beautiful grey, GIRL. Her fleece was fine, silky & shiny and starting to lock nicely. Her color is astounding! We are very excited about this one a blending of good conformation from her dam who is a Silverstone Rocket daughter and also one of our favorite herdsires GLR Armani who tends to give us great dispositions and luster in all shades of grey! We entered her in fall shows and were somewhat surprised by two 1st places. Her competition was actually a half-sister who has a beautiful true-to-type head, and fleece with lovely locks. Both judges commented that it was a close placing but felt Wisteria had somewhat finer and denser fleece. We are grateful. Also appreciate her quirky disposition. We bred her one time to our fine-fleeced "Gracie's slick to the max" and she delivered a bright fleeced boy full of energy and a beautiful head style. He is white with one big brown spot, nicely locked and looking dense.

When a dam does something pretty spectacular you may try the same pairing and hope for similar results. Amazingly that is what happened - a stunning grey female again. If I am remembering correctly the dam birthed 3 grey girls in a row by GLR Armani. We feel blessed to be able to add her to our herd. Daisy is friendly like her big sister but seems a little more on the sweet side whereas older sister Daphne is full of spunk and a bit of mischief. Daisy was a little slower growing but seems to be coming along nicely now.

We bred one of our favorite females, the lovely "Lilac Rose"- a beautiful, light silver grey, with an endearing personality, to WI the Admiral, who we feel was a stellar stud that resided at Windy Hill at the time. He is not only one of the densest alpaca we have seen but has beautiful super shiny locks and a face that is too darn cute. All of that and some amazing genetics behind him. Given he is a Goldstar son we can not tell you how excited we were to land this color of a female by him. When Lilac gave birth to Lanai she started licking her all over, it was such a special birth to witness. 2020 an odd year to say the last, so we kind of went with a name imagining ourselves having a nice "wine on the lanai" overlooking the ocean and alpacas peacefully grazing. She will likely lose her wine color fleece at shearing and be mostly silver grey which is more than ok by us. We feel fortunate to have been able to send her off to some shows for 2021 and she received four, 1st place ribbons. She had comments from the judge how she had more density than anticipated and very respectable luster! She gave birth to a girl by the guy we just can't get enough of, GLR Armani. This female looks bay black but may possibly end up in that modern grey. Will see what time tells. Nice density and lock and a beautiful true to type suri head. Lanai made a great first-time mom while maintaining her own ideal weight etc. We bred her to Gracie's Slick to the Max in August and will see if that pairing took.
